An important example for the manifold possibilities of determinations and measurements with a measuring extruder and rheometric capillary die for measurement of shear stresses, shear rates and viscosity of polymers and other plasticizable substances.

In the measuring extruder the material to be analyzed is plasticized praxis-oriented and continuously extruded through the rheometric capillary die. In this process differential pressure, stock temperature and output a measured. Due to the different geometries of the capillary dies a huge range of shear rates is covered. Thus reliable information about the processibility are ascertained in all important processes.
